As from mid November The Heaphy Bus will depart from Nelson every Wednesday morning to arrive at Brown Hut with plenty of time to get to Perry Saddle hut. It can pick up along the way from Motueka, Takaka, Collingwood, and on the return journey take trampers from Brown Hut to any of those destinations. We can also pick up at Wainui Bay in Abel Tasman National Park and drop off at Marahau if there is demand for two persons or more.
Every Sunday the bus will leave Nelson, perhaps stopping at Rolling River Junction, Wangapeka (requires two or more persons), St. Arnaud, Murchison, Westport, little Wanganui (Wangapeka), Karamea and ultimately at Kohaihai Shelter leaving plenty of time to reach the Heaphy Hut that day, or trampres to get out from Heaphy hut. The bus then returns to Nelson from Kohaihai Shelter at 1.30pm (plenty of time to tramp from the Heaphy Hut) and will stop along the destinations outlined previously except Rolling River Junction provided there is demand.
We will guarantee to arrive in plenty of time to reach the nearest hut within daylight hours at track ends.
